My class consists of junior and senior high school students in American Government and AP Government and Politics.
My budding political scientists are eager to learn about the United States government and how the political process works.
My students live in a rural community about 30 minutes outside of a major metropolitan city in Wisconsin. The population of my students is very diverse in regards to socioeconomic status, interests, and personalities. The school day starts early, and my learners come to school each day vibrant and ready to learn and make connections from their lives to public policy.
My Project
This project puts Constitution graphic novels in the hands of learners who increasingly value visuals as drivers of education. Learning about the three branches of our federal government and the other amendments that shape America's values will only allow these students to carry on the serious work of engaging and remaining critical of our federal government. Building an engaged and critical citizenry is a task that I take extremely serious.
Our leaders swear to uphold it, our military to defend it and it is the blueprint for the shape and function of government itself and what defines Americans as Americans; however, how many of us truly know our Constitution?
The United States Constitution: A Graphic Adaptation uses the art of illustrated storytelling to breathe life into our nation's cornerstone principles. Simply put, it is the most enjoyable and groundbreaking way to read the governing document of the United States. Spirited and visually witty, it roves article by article, amendment by amendment, to get at the meaning, background, and enduring relevance of the law of the land.
