My Students

I'm feeling very fortunate to be teaching in person again this year. My class is made up of students who attended school in person last year with a few that attended online school only. This means that some of them have not been in a classroom since second grade!

My students are so happy to be in school each day.

They are excited and eager to explore and learn new concepts each day. These students come from a variety of socioeconomic backgrounds and cultures. Some live in single family homes while others share homes with relatives or grandparents. Many of my students have had to miss weeks of school again this year due to COVD-19. Not all of these students have had the much needed support for online learning during their quarantine. Each child's learning environment and opportunities vary greatly in the community outside of the classroom.

My students are working hard this year to catch up in subjects they have fallen behind in while attending school online. They are also loving the field trips and assemblies that we have been able to have.

My Project

It looks like I have requested a bunch of random things for my classroom. Each item has a specific purpose in my classroom. New guided reading books are always a must. These books are used over and over from year to year. Classroom Rewards are a big motivator for kids to complete their work and do their best. Items like a good pencil sharpener, adapters to project chromebooks, and game buzzers to make test reviews fun, all help keep a classroom running smoothly. Other items such as birthday treats, end of year framed certificates, and welcome back treats all help with making students feel important and special.

This array of random items are quite valuable in the classroom.

Many of these items are consumable and are purchased throughout each school year. Most of the items are purchased out of my pocket each. Having these items funded will guarantee that my students will have the extra things that make them want to come to school and be part of a really great learning community!
