Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach at a school on the west side of Indianapolis, Indiana. My class mainly consists of English language learners and low-income students who love kindergarten!
Every morning during arrival time, when looking down the hallway I can see my students practically running to get to class.
They love school and are excited about learning. They don't want to miss a thing. They like to have fun and make the day very enjoyable!
Many of them do not have the skills needed to come prepared for kindergarten. So we spend a lot of time teaching school and basic skills.
My Project
I was ill-prepared for this home learning experience. I am expected to create videos teaching my kindergarten students skills while they are at home. I have nothing to display my teaching materials or demonstrations for my kids to see.
These materials will have a huge impact on our home learning experience.
The easel will give me a place to teach my kids in a manner they are accustomed too. The pocket chart will give me a place to display letters, words and sentences similar to what they have a school. These things will help to bring some normalcy in these unprecedented times.
