This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are fun-loving second graders who love learning and love being in school. My students are avid readers and enjoy reading with their friends. They are all well-behaved and they are very excited about learning. They are kind and caring and help each other any chance they see an opportunity! My students are happy and energetic second graders. Most of my students come from low-income families with various cultural backgrounds and languages. The classroom is where they have the opportunity to have fun and learn at the same time.
As a teacher in a low-income, high poverty school district, I know my students are faced with challenges both in and out of school.
About 5% of the students in my school are homeless and live in shelters across the city. Parents struggle to provide them with the necessities to start the school year. Even with these challenges, my students come eager to learn. They are funny, smart, and active.
My Project
The bookshelf will help me to organize my classroom independent reading level books. My classroom library is overflowing with books but I don't have enough space to store the books. We lack shelves and space that allows students to organize books in a way that would promote students to search for books of their choice.
I want my library to be inviting and an area my students are excited to be in and clutter free.
These shelves will be a great addition to our library. It will also make the classroom look more organize. Your donation will be greatly appreciated.
