This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are part of an urban school in a Cincinnati Head Start Program. They are primarily from low-income families whom live in the neighborhood. As preschoolers, they are full of zest and excited to learn and explore each day.
During the day, they are artists, engineers, scientists, explorers, problem solvers, creators, and writers who develop new ideas daily.
They are learning letters, sounds, numbers and shapes as well as social skills so they are ready to be lifelong learners.
My Project
This carpet will give my students a place to sit while we have our morning meetings, story time, and closing circle.
The carpet will also be a place to inspire future architects, writers, chefs, zoologists, fire fighters, doctors, and teachers.
It will be a place to gather so my students can share thoughts with others, visit places of the past and in the future. A carpet will give us a place to create amazing snacks and explore items using all of our senses. Most of all, a carpet will give each student a space of their own for learning to occur.
