Our school has recently replaced our wall to wall carpeting with tiling in order to minimize bacteria and improve air quality. Unfortunately, this has left my students with only tiles to sit upon. I was asked to remove my bean bag chairs last year because the fire marshall deemed them not fire resistant. I think it's imperative that students have time out of their classroom chairs and be able to read in comfort. Being that my students are children with identified Special Needs, I am doing all I can to encourage them to enjoy independent reading times. All of my students each year would have access to this seating. I have located small vinyl "seats" that are inexpensive and approved by my building administration. They will hang on the wall when not in use and can be wiped clean with a soft cloth. I am requesting 12 vinyl seats.
