Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I have a class of wonderful 5 and 6 year old students. They are full of life and energy. They all unique needs. I have 4 talkative young ladies and 8 rambunctious boys.
They are all very dear to me!
These students come from a low income neighborhood. They rely on us for food, love and nourishment.
Though some think of kindergarten as a year of play, in actuality kindergartners work hard and learn a lot in a very short time.
This particular group is exceptionally eager to learn. They have made huge gains in their reading levels!
My Project
In order for my kiddos to build their reading stamina they will need a comfortable place to read. I want them to be able to relax and enjoy their books. The soft seats will give them their own personal space. The hear myself sound phones will be great for when they go to the read to self center. They will be able to read quietly to themselves.
These phones let students read quietly but amplify their voices in their ear.
On the computers they log onto A to Z Reading where they read or listen to books specific to their level and needs. However, it is hard for them to concentrate. They get distracted by the other students computers and want to see what everyone else is reading. They need to be able to concentrate on their leveled books.
Working headphones will allow the students to listen to their books without being distracted.
All of these combined will ensure my students will continue to grow as readers!!
