Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are eager to learn and willing to try, but they have the odds stacked against them to succeed. Your generous support can help my students be successful.
I am a fourth-grade teacher in a low-income urban area in New Jersey and more than 90% of my students receive free or reduced-price lunch.
My students cannot afford to purchase the necessary supplies for the classroom. I have general education students, special education students, as well as students learning the English Language in my classroom.
Our school is in an urban area. Many of my students are reading at 2-3 grade levels below 4th grade. Despite these challenges, the climate of our school is nurturing and sets high expectations for all students.
My Project
My students need a place to read and storage to hold all of our classroom materials. So a storage bench is perfect! We do not have different places to sit and read a book in the classroom and we need a place to store all of the donations we have received recently.
To enhance the reading center, I have chosen different colored reading benches that will be perfect for Daily 5 Read with Someone.
We also need to get organized in our classroom. The storage benches will hold out construction paper, scissors, glue, markers, folders, duct tape, and much much more.
