My Students

My students attend an elementary school in Richmond, California. My classroom consists of students with various needs. Several students are performing below grade level, a few on level, and a handful are above grade level.

As a class, we meet on the carpet several times throughout the day.

We currently have a small carpet that does not have ample space for every student in the class. Students are currently using extra carpet squares instead of all sitting on 1 rug.

My Project

My students need a United States Activity Carpet, a place to sit during our morning and afternoon meeting time. The colorful rug will provide ample room for students to comfortably sit and listen to read-alouds, meet with partners, whole group instruction. A rug for the library would be a great addition. Students will be able to choose books in the library and read on the carpet. The carpet will also be utilized during morning meeting, small group instruction, and whole group instruction. All the students will have an opportunity to sit together as a group instead of sitting on a small carpet square around the perimeter.

The large carpet will also be used for our ELD/ALD block.

They too, will use the rug to meet and learn something new.
