Kindergarten is a place where kids can grow and learn so much within the year we are together. My kindergarten kids are very excited to learn each day! We are highly motivated and get excited about all of our learning adventures together! We are a Title I school with many of our students that live in high poverty homes and receive free or reduced-price lunches. We are 85% free/reduced-price lunch with 45% English language learners.
We are a very culturally diverse group that love learning together and being in kindergarten together!
Our school is a great place to be in a great neighborhood. It is my personal goal to always make sure my students feel welcome, appreciated, safe and loved in my classroom so they can learn as much as they can! A new learning rug to start our day together is a great learning tool for all of us!
My Project
Spreading out to read a good book, working hands-on with a group member, sitting attentively for a good read aloud, listening to a mini-lesson, participating in our daily morning meeting...these are all activities that are done on a classroom rug where so much learning occurs. My students need a classroom rug to serve as a class meeting space and to help create a classroom community.
Having a classroom learning rug will really help create a sense of community and belonging in our classroom.
This rug will be used each and every day to start our day together on a positive note. My students will start everyday on this rug. We greet each other, have a morning message from the teacher, play games, share experiences, and learn in front of our interactive whiteboard. This is in the center of the room and will be where the majority of the learning takes place, as well as, the meeting place of where our school community is formed.
