Each year, 19 new faces come into my classroom to experience school for the first time. For some students, it is the first experience they have being away from home. For others, they have been in a daycare but not focused on learning. Students quickly realize that pre-k is fun. Each day students come in excited and ready to learn. We spend our days listening to stories, learning together, and playing together. We play inside and outside and learn how to be good students. We enjoy other classes like music, PE, and library too! I strive to make each student feel loved and safe while they are learning so they will become life long learners.
My Project
My students need a new rug to provide a warm and inviting place to sit on the floor during group activities. We frequently use our carpet throughout the day for activities such as calendar time, letter/number/shape/color of the week, story time, and more.
This new rug will brighten our room up and make it easier for students to find their place for group time.
The individual rectangles on this rug will allow students to learn about personal space as well. Each child will have their own rectangle which will help each student feel more independent and secure knowing they have their own special spot.
