My awesome students come from varying backgrounds. They all have different interests and talents. As math students they have a wide range of abilities and readiness levels. When they feel loved and respected, they work hard and love to take note of their achievements and progress.
Our math classroom is a busy place.
There are often 3 - 4 groups of students doing different activities based on their interests or needs for remediation or enrichment.
They're active - they're social - they're supportive of each other - and we're a team.
My Project
We all know that when it comes to learning, most kids learn better when they can touch it! These dice sets feature values for each place up to the millions place. Using the place value dice will help them to move away from just worksheets into more real-life problem solving. Using the dice will also allow me to create learning experiences centered around gaming - another plus for my fourth graders!
One "problem" with using math manipulatives in class is the management of all these glorious little pieces!
Included with this project are individual plastic cups so the students can just "grab and go" and start their learning. Having a larger storage area in my classroom will also help us worry less about clean-up and think more about the math tasks.
I purposefully am not ordering one set per student. I want them to use the sets together so that they can continue to have conversations about math.
