The best word to describe my school is "family." Visitors often comment that when they arrive at our school, they feel like they are being welcomed into a family. The atmosphere is warm and upbeat. Within each classroom, every teacher strives to create a class family where students care about each other and work together to learn.
My students are enthusiastic, eager learners.
They are five and six year olds who are just starting their school experience and they love to learn. Kindergarten is an exciting time for them! They range in ability from struggling to learn sounds to being fluent readers. The students in my class are ethnically diverse. Nine different languages are spoken in the homes of my students. The families of my students are very supportive and are always willing to go the extra mile to help their children.
My Project
My students are very excited about learning to read! They are at the very beginning of their school careers and they already love books. The children enjoy looking at books from the classroom library. I have a large collection of books in my classroom library for my students to enjoy. However, right now the children must return the books to the classroom library each day because there is no place for them to store a personal collection of books. I would love to create book bins for each child, but have no place to store book bins. This storage bin center would solve that problem. This mobile unit would provide storage for book bins. Each child would have their own book bin and a place to store it. My plan is to have each child select several books from the classroom library. The child would then place these books in their own personal book bin. Each time the children wish to revisit a beloved book, they would have to look no further than their own book bin. Once a week each child could return their books to the classroom library and "shop" for new books. Having the storage center on wheels means that it can easily be moved around the classroom to wherever it is needed.
This storage bin center would allow my students to easily store and retrieve books.
