My students need an area carpet to define our meeting space that allows them to self regulate, focus and learn.
My students are excited to explore their world and to learn. They are busy learning social skills, emotional regulation, and basic academic skills. We are a new PreK program in a public school. For the past three years, we have "made do" with found materials for our classroom due to limited budgets.
The PreK classroom is a first school experience for these four year olds.
They grow in independence, confidence, and skill. They are inquisitive, full of wonder, and fun.
We begin everyday with circle time. My students want to feel independent and know where to come to when circle time begins. A clear defined spot makes circle time relaxing, informative and self directing.
This colorful carpet will be the heart of our classroom - a place to gather, sing, dance, read, share, and grow. The pattern of letters and numbers on the carpet provide endless opportunities to play, discover, and learn - meeting Common Core standards of literacy and math.
This carpet will help to create a classroom that is functional and welcoming to four year olds.
They will feel secure in a new environment that has been furnished with them in mind and is inviting and clean. Children will develop confidence and self regulation as they function independently in this classroom. As such, this carpet allows the classroom environment to be a "third teacher." Children will know where they belong and will confidently say "This is a place for me."
DonorsChoose makes it easy for anyone to help a classroom in need. Public school teachers from every corner of America create classroom project requests, and you can give any amount to the project that inspires you.
