A Place for Everything!

My Students

Walking into our classroom is a little ray of sunshine. Each child in our classroom is a unique individual, making our classroom a happier place to learn and grow together. Together we learn, laugh, and celebrate the smallest of achievements.

We are an Early Learning Special Education classroom.

Our students come to us when they turn 3 years old and stay until they turn 4 years old and are eligible to attend PreK. In addition to working on social skills and pre-academics, our students also receive occupational therapy, physical therapy, and/or speech therapy (depending upon each child's IEP goals).

My Project

Our last project funded through DonorsChoose was for musical instruments. The children love going over to the music shelf and grabbing an instrument to play. While we have great new instruments, it is now time to upgrade our storage for them.

Having a place for everything would certainly help our students have easier access and utilize our new musical instruments on a daily basis.

We have been so blessed to add so many wonderful items to our classroom through DonorsChoose that we now need to begin adding new storage spaces. While it would be nice to use other funding to update our storage spaces, most other sources of funding do not allow the money to be used for classroom furniture.

While storage may not appear to be a necessary or needed classroom item, nothing could be further from the truth. Storage items are the foundation of a classroom. For one thing, the first thing people notice when walking into a classroom is the furnishings. The second thing is if the furnishings do not provide adequate storage space, the area begins to look cluttered and in disarray. So please help my students have a calm and inviting classroom in which to learn.
