Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students and I are from Victoria, Texas. We are a Title I school, where 85% of our students are on free or reduced price lunch. The majority of my students come from low-income households.

My students still face severe challenges at home, as well as in their community, with the effects of Hurricane Harvey still being felt.

My students come to school to learn and be loved. We are a family and treat each other with respect! I work hard to build a class culture that values growth in education.

My Project

My students love to use their listening station, but right now I have all of the items in various places that are not easy for my students to get to on their own. I want my students to not only learn the content that I teach but also the skills they need to be independent; part of these skills include self selecting the tools they need to be successful. This storage area will give my students easy access to their headphones, CD players, and tablets. My class is learning to love being organized and appreciate the saying "a place for everything and everything in its place;" this storage will provide a much needed place.
