A Place For Everything, and Everything in its Place

My Students

I am in my third year teaching special education. This is my second year teaching the CARES K-2nd grade program, which serves the highest need special education students in our district. Our students have a variety of disabilities that interfere with their education, which requires specific teaching strategies that allow them to learn based on their strengths.

Our students are active, and learn through play and other hands on materials.

Our class is always changing, which requires the ability to adapt to the ever changing needs of the students. This requires a large amount of materials to teach the students. These materials must be organized so that the students are not overwhelmed by clutter.

My Project

So many recent projects have been funded! I am amazed at the generosity of strangers who continue to donate to my classroom. I have just one little problem (and it is a great problem to have!)- I am running out of room to put stuff!

My class needs a locking toy supply shelf to organize all of the amazing materials that we have received.

Having students with autism who are easily distracted by our awesome materials, it is important that I have a place to put them out of visual and accessible reach. We have discovered that we need a shelf that can open and close when the center opens and closes to eliminate access during times when a student should not be using materials.

This Carolina Fold & Lock Unit will help organize our materials, give a place to use them, and allow materials to remain in the class but not distract my students.
