Help me give my students A Place for Everyone Classroom Carpet for 30
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
As a Baltimore City Public School, funds are lacking. Therefore, teachers and administrators are tasked with challenges of stirring up funds in order to meet the educational needs of its deserving student population. I am glad to recognize Donors Choose as one solution to such conflict.
I describe my students to be resilient learners who are appreciative of quality education.
Despite being exposed to the ever present disparity that reaches from school-to-school and teacher-to-teacher, our students rank at the top for their academic and social capabilities. To visitors familiar with Liberty Elementary School, it is clear that we are the exception to Baltimore City. Our school's professional learning community has worked to build community partnerships inclusive of family and local community, as well as develop data-driven academic learning initiatives. Examples of our success are as follows: the largest food pantry in the vicinity, the Judy Center's program for new mothers, play works, aftercare programing, horse clinics, privately funded summer school opportunity, close writing and reading initiatives, and task-based mathematics. There is no doubt that my school goes above and beyond to meet the deserve needs of the whole child. Your contribution matters!
Every morning I arrive to work an hour and a half early to vacuum, sweep, mop and dust. Keeping my classroom environment sanitary and healthy for students is of top priority. The purpose of this project is to fund a new Classroom Carpet from Lakeshore. The current class carpet has been through 20+ years of wear and tear. Sadly there is no scrubbing or sanitization that could possibly revitalize our beloved carpet. Purchasing a new carpet will provide my students (especially those with allergies) a healthy and sanitary place to sit.
Functionality of a Lakeshore Carpet
Carpets serve as important instructional space for large groups of students. The selected carpet "A Place for Everyone Classroom Carpet" ensures that each of my 26 students will have an assigned space to sit during essential teach components. We look forward to our new carpet!
