My students need table top spaces to complete educational activities that can be moved to their wheelchairs and be adjusted to the varying heights of their wheelchairs.

My students are all placed in a medically fragile preschool unit. Their disabilities include Cerebral Palsy, deaf/blind/non-verbal, Cortical Visual Impairments, Muscular Dystrophy, Dravet Syndrome and Autism. All of the children are in wheelchairs and they are all currently non-verbal.
Despite their disabilities and challenges, they all strive to grow and learn each day.
I am continually amazed by their determination and resolve to perform the most basic skills that most take for granted. They have a work ethic that is inspirational and watching them push past their limitations to learn new skills is my joy!
My current classroom tables do not have wheels nor do they adjust to the varying wheelchair heights of my students. My students need table top work spaces that can be moved, as they select various classroom spaces to engage with learning materials. It is also of paramount importance that the table heights be easily adjusted as all my students wheelchairs are varying heights. Due to their difficulties with motor coordination, the tables must also have locking wheels and be very sturdy, as all the children are just beginning to learn how to navigate in their wheelchairs and walkers.
My goal is always to foster student independence and help the children feel as self sufficient as possible.
The current tables in my classroom do not assist with this goal as the children cannot adequately fit beneath them, which results in adults needing to hold wooden tops for them work with various classroom materials. In addition, these tables will also allow the students to utilize other therapeutic chairs and standers as they work toward strengthening their muscles.
We are requesting rolling, adjustable tables that will permit my staff to adjust table heights to promote my students ability to access puzzles, letter and math manipulatives, communication devices, and therapy equipment, while having their hands free to offer students hand over hand assistance as needed. In addition, the small floor table top area will allow us to work on learning to sit up assisted with those who are working on developing core muscular strength.
