Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students range from being in the special needs department to being in mostly honors classes. I truly do have a healthy mix of students from varying backgrounds and regions. The school is primarily lower income students with around 53% being minority (mostly Hispanic.) The student to teacher ratio is 17:1.

They are great students with good hearts that are eager to learn new things.

I plan to make sure they have every opportunity to do so by providing them with new opportunities to learn laboratory techniques and how those techniques can be used to determine how everyday life works.

My Project

Students are very intelligent. Often times, they simply don't know what options are available for them to use. I will be teaching a course to, specifically, teach students what technology is available to them, and how to use it to change the world. I work in a Title I school and some of the most common phrases I hear is, "They can't afford that" or, "They don't have access to that."

My job is to teach them that the limitations they once believed in, don't truly exist.

If I can show students how to manipulate technology better, the possibilities for how they can apply that knowledge is endless. The Raspberry Pi 3 that I am requesting is a computer that is powerful and versatile for it's size and price. That is why I believe that most, if not all, of my students can use this technology efficiently and effectively.
