Mr. Hagan from Saint Louis MO is requesting instructional technology through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
Help me give my students the chance to have further technological experiences during this uncertain time in education. The document camera will provide instruction in a variety ways to a variety of different platforms.

As a teacher in a low-income/high poverty school district, my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. My students come from all over from different parts of the city every day. Several students get up very early in the morning and don't get home until very late riding very long bus rides every day. Many of my students come from single parent homes, and they often leave and then come home to an empty house. Many of my students are scared to be by themselves and they don't have anyone to help them. There is not a lot of money and therefore my students are not even able to bring the basic school supplies resulting in me providing them.
"Like the Little Engine that Could, they tell themselves in a world that often tells them they can't, my students tell themselves they can and then push themselves and will reach their personal goals no matter what comes their way!" I spend my days with 20-25 students in a First Grade inclusion special education classroom with a variety of intellectual, autism, medical diagnosis, speech, language impairments, and specific learning disability in a variety of ways.
The use of document camera is almost a daily activity in my classroom, especially in math. Using the workshop model in math, students come to the rug with whiteboards for guided practice and to record modeled strategies. The document camera allows me to see exactly what they are doing, as well as provide an easy place for them to show and share their work. It also allows students to visually how to work out the problems individually or to assist in general student understanding By having a document camera, students will be able to avoid all of these problems of losing attention and focus on increasing their learning!
By donating to our project, you will not only help to improve and increase student attention and focus, you will ultimately help to increase their academic achievement.
Students will be able to simply focus on the academic material at hand, and not whether their materials are going to work or not. Plus in this technology literate world, any interaction with updated technology will increase their literacy as well as their desire to learn and use the new technology!
