A Picture Is Worth a Thousand Words!
My students need a digital camera to document their learning through pictures.
I am blessed to work with a wonderful group of diverse young children who come to me with various backgrounds and experiences. I teach in a public school where a large percentage of our students receive free or reduced-price lunch and are faced with other concerns that put them at risk for learning challenges. Despite these potential challenges, we work hard daily to reach our full potential.
In my classroom we are proud to love, laugh, and learn everyday.
As a preschool teacher, I work with our school's youngest learners (ages 3-5). It is important to me that I provide children and families a positive experience as they start school. Together we set goals and strive to meet them through our exciting learning adventures.
Documenting a child’s learning is so important! It helps teachers, parents, and even the children themselves see what they are learning and doing in the classroom. As we obviously do not have written tests or assessments for preschoolers, documentation of learning for young children relies mainly on the teacher highlighting the skills each child is using through written word and pictures. Pictures create a visual representation of the learning that takes place in the classroom. As young children are very visual, pictures are helpful for them to really see and understand the things they are doing. As the saying goes, “a picture is worth a thousand words.”
The digital camera I am requesting will allow me to take pictures to use for documentation of learning, creating visual schedules, and sharing classroom moments with parents!
I have been using my personal phone to take photos in the classroom, but this is not always feasible and creates a memory storage problem. A digital camera will make it much easier to take pictures and upload them onto computers for practical and quick use. I will easily be able to document our school year through pictures and provide visuals as evidence of what my students are doing and learning in our classroom.
