My students need the Photo Language Library, Language Concepts Kits, and Social Studies Discussion Cards to foster understanding during oral language development.

How many new words did you learn today? Many of the four year olds I teach come from poverty homes in which there has not been enriching vocabulary development. This lack of oral language can be the root of learning difficulties in the later school years.

You can help provide tools to stimulate rich, diverse oral language while these four year olds' language skills are blossoming. During the years of four to six, children can go from around 1500 words to 14,000. How many words did you learn today? A lot!

These photo cards and manipulatives offer a great opportunity to get discussions going. Our four year olds often come to us with very limited experiences. They need visuals to aid their understanding. Not only can we use the materials in whole class discussions, we can also use them during transitional times so that not a moment is wasted. Parents and volunteers who come into the class can also easily pick up the materials to work with a small group of children without having to interrupt my instructional time to get directions.

You will make it possible for my students to expand their oral language exponentially!! Oral language is the foundation on which literacy builds. Help us build a strong, deep foundation. Thank you.
