My Students

I teach at a Title I school with a high population of ESOL students. I am constantly amazed by my students' desire to learn and the amount of determination they have to succeed. One of the best ways I have found to provide for all of my students' diverse needs is hands-on learning and technology integration. Technology is able to bring to life many of the abstract concepts that my students are learning about and allows them to interact with a concept, instead of merely reading about it.

Students who are actively engaged are able to learn more and at a deeper level.

Technology allows us to tailor the education to meet the educational and cultural needs of the students.

My Project

Imagine your first day of school the excitement the and the nervous feeling in the the pit of your stomach. Now imagine you are dropped in a classroom where you not only do not know what is happening but you cant communicate with those around you. That is what happens to my students every day.

My students all come to the our school looking for opportunities some have fled Puerto Rico due to the condition hurricane Maria others have come from Cuba, Portugal and Vietnam.

Many of my students do not have English as a first language I have up to 4 languages in a classroom which ranges from ELL students on their first day in the country to those who can help others learn the language.

My students need a document camera and classroom projector to allow both myself and other students to model assignments. The use of a projector and document camera allow my students to see what we are working on and follow along even if they do not speak the language. The selected document camera will also allow me to record lessons and post them online so that my students can replay the lessons.
