My students need flexible seating such as balance ball seats and wobble cushions to provide movement in an appropriate way. This will help them take control of their learning and find a work space that is comfortable for them.
Our diverse Pre-k students often encounter academic challenges. Ninety-five percent of our students receive free or reduced priced lunches. Some of our students receive a food backpack each weekend.
Our students love to learn and each needs different things to learn in his or her own way.
Every day our students learn more and more. We want to give them what they need to be successful.
We love our students and want them to be successful in the future. We challenge them to be the best they can be!
My Project
Flexible seating options will provide our students with choice and control within their learning environment. It will give them a chance to move and be comfortable as they focus and learn. Our students will use the ball seats and wobble cushions every day during our small and large group instruction.
When students are given control of their seating, their focus is improved and they are better able to attain the skills they are learning.
During small groups, our students improve their fine motor skills, enrich their literacy skills, and enhance their math skills. They practice cutting, drawing, creating, and writing. They learn the letters and make the letters using different materials and listen to and discuss books. The students practice counting, making patterns, and learning about numbers.
During literacy and math large instruction on the carpet, they may be given a choice of seating. This will give them the opportunity to appropriately move as needed in order to focus on the teacher and the skill being taught.
