Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Don't you wish there was someone who "really" taught you how important it is to save for that "rainy day". Through financial literacy, I want my students to be aware that money you save is more valuable than money that you spend right away.

My students attend a high school in the inner city of Los Angeles.

They are faced with extreme obstacles, both on the campus and off, but they have a desire to make something of themselves. I want them to be able to find the miens to finance their education, never having to limit their future because of a lack of funds. Becoming financially literate is how they can learn what becoming financially independent is all about.

My Project

With the Kindle Fire HD (and protective plan, case and screen just in case!), I hope to be able to share financial literature with my students that they will be able to read and learn the importance of financial responsibility. The e-reader is a great way to get students engaged with reading as it will also allow us to access financial apps which will help them learn what it means to budget their money so that they can protect their credit score. I also want them to learn the value of keeping a budget (YNAB) and realize that there are ways to finance college. A lack of funds is no excuse for them to not make their educational dreams a reality.

Your heartfelt donation will make a difference in the lives of my students.

It might seem like a small thing, but your donation provides us with the electronic resources that will help my students become financially literate. Thank you!
