My classroom sees every student throughout the school, which brings a lot of energy and an immense amount of learning. My school is a Title I/SAGE school in Wisconsin. I see around 450 students every week from Kindergarten through fifth graders. Each student who enters my classroom adds a variety of economic and racial background and knowledge.
Despite the challenges they may face, they are eager and enthusiastic learners and want to do their best.
They have kind hearts, work hard, and have fun.
My Project
The Noteworthy Music Rug will be used to teach music concepts, compose rhythm and melodic patterns, read notation and solfege on a treble clef staff, put a picture with new curriculum based vocabulary words and assess the learning of those new skills, and use its shape for various games in the music room. As opportunities arise, we will make the connection between reading, writing, math, science, and social studies through the different songs we study in Kindergarten through fifth grade. The rug will also be a classroom management tool to seat and organize students.
With all of the obstacles they face, my students still want to learn new things every day, and share their love of music with their peers and myself.
When we create an environment for them to succeed, we increase their chances of succeeding. The noteworthy music rug is a step in the right direction for my students to gain music literacy and open their eyes to something new. Your donations are greatly appreciated by me, but more importantly, my incredible students, who have a never-ending want for new knowledge about the world of music!
