I teach Kindergarten in a small community. My students come from various backgrounds and are truly hard-working, creative, and kind individuals. Many of my students live in an environment where their access to technology is very limited. Some of my students have little, to no support at home. They come to school each day with a smile on their face and are eager to learn despite the hardships they have to endure.
My students have truly enriched my life with their amazing personalities, they encourage me daily, and remind me of why I became a teacher.
Everyday my kindergarteners come in eager to learn and play. I am always so inspired at how hard they work during their school day.
My Project
My goal is to create an environment that makes reading books exciting. In my kindergarten class we have learning centers four days a week with the other kindergarten classes. One of the nine centers is books. I would like to be able to display our themed books so that they are more appealing to the students at this particular center.
"There is more treasure in books than in all the pirate's loot on Treasure Island." — Walt Disney.
Kindergarten is the foundation to build great readers. I hope with a bookshelf that the kindergartners will find their passion in reading.
The back of this bookshelf is also a white board that will allow the children be able to create masterpieces. It will be used for them to practice their letter formation, writing, and drawing pictures. What kindergartner doesn't love to draw pictures in their free time?
