This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are an amazing group of kindergartners who attend a Title I school located in a high-poverty area of Los Angeles. Many of them come from low socioeconomic backgrounds and are second language learners, but they know that hard work is the way to succeed. Although my students may have many challenges, they have a love for learning that is immeasurable.

During this pandemic, my students continue working hard to learn and thrive at school and at home.

Even though some students didn't get the opportunity to attend school during the pandemic, their dedication to achieve shines through!

My Project

My students need a bright and comfortable place to read books. The current classroom library has an old and dirty rug that makes my students frown when they are asked to go to the library to read. A new, colorful rug, comfy pillows, and cute stuffed animals will help make the library a desirable place for reading books. My students will use the pillows to get comfortable on the rug, and the stuffed animals will be used as reading buddies. Having a nice place for reading will help encourage their literacy skills at an early age.
