Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

The students at my school come from a lower socio-economic background. And as many studies show, students who come from backgrounds like these students do not have all of the resources available to become life-long learners.

With a high turnover rate, students may be at school one day and then not the rest of the week; we aim to teach them as much as possible in the time we have them.

In this part of town, the zone for the school is so small, 85% of the students walk to school or are dropped off by parents. We have one school bus that transports students. Since Covid-19 has entered our lives, we have had major issues with attendance and tardiness.

My Project

My students have recently started competing as an eSports Team, and all of our play has been on the Nintendo Switch. Some games don't run well on the Switch, and as such we are looking to add computer gaming as an option. These computers are strong enough to play any and all eSports competitive games. The accessories are all to help bring in the experience and play style. Some students prefer controllers, while others use mouse & keyboard.

eSports is a growing activity, and this will help bring our players to the next level.

They will use these for both competition and practice, allowing them to get comfortable.
