Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I currently am a speech-language pathologist covering a middle school. Over the last few years, I have seen a growing need for support for my students, in particular with regards to social skills, including starting and maintaining friendships as well as working and collaborating together. At this time, I have the opportunity to provide and create a social skills-style group with my special-day students in particular, where we will learn together but in a fun environment. I personally feel that a variety of activities can be both fun and educational, and can support the students in learning how to collaborate with their peers. At the middle school level, these skills are imperative as they will soon be moving on to high school and other endeavors.

With the items I have selected, I would like the resources needed in order to provide my students the opportunity to engage with each other in a fun and positive way.

A few items on my list are for projects that would require printing, such as directions for activities. The other items were actually suggested by my students as well as my colleagues as things they would enjoy with their peers, as well as activities I can design to be more collaborative and team building.

I am really excited for the possibility to provide this supplemental enrichment for my students, and I thank you for considering funding my project.
