Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My class is composed of 55 fifth graders in a general education class, with students with IEP and ELL learners and special education students such as autism.
A typical day in my classroom looks active.
My students are engaged in learning activities that get them moving, talking to their peers, and asking great questions. You will not see a lot of worksheets in my classroom. My students are learning through hands-on experiences.
I teach in a Title I school.
My fifth-grade students come from very diverse families. I have students who are well above grade level and several who struggle on a daily basis. My students are playful, eager learners, and very loving. I teach at a school fosters a safe and structured environment for students to learn. It is a very welcoming place where students feel comfortable to be themselves. Bullying is not tolerated and students are given every opportunity to succeed. Students learn respect for each other and teachers. I really work at the best school.
My Project
The way we teach at our school is through the workshop model, where students gather together for a lesson at the classroom rug, then have time to work independently or with a partner. They spend a lot of time on the rug sharing their thoughts with their partners and building new understandings. Since the rug is such an integral part of the work we do, we would love for it to be a really nice, clean space. Having a vacuum would help keep it clean everyday!
The vacuum cleaner will help our rug stay clean, not just this year, but for many years to come!
The students will benefit greatly from having a safe, clean environment to do their learning in.
I am requesting a new rug, this will help to create a welcoming environment to our classroom.
Students will have a bright, well-defined workspace and a positive area to learn in. This rug is replacing something dull and dirty rug with stains. The rug we have had in our classroom is old and dirty. I don't like that my students are sitting in a dirty rug. I will like for them to sit in a new and clean, comfortable rug. with your help we will be able to get a clean, new, comfortable rug. The rug will be a great benefit to the learning experience.
During instruction, all students in a group would be able to sit on the floor without violating each other's personal space which then leads to arguments. We would use the vacuum nightly to keep the rug clean. Having my own vacuum to keep the rug we are sitting on daily would be super.
This project would make a difference because my students would be able to sit on the floor for instruction.
