Help me give my students a comfortable place where they can immerse themselves in a good book! We would love two bean bag chairs, pillows, chalkboard and bulletin board materials to display our favorite books, goals, and progress.
I teach at a dynamic school that focuses on performing arts and environmental science. My students are extremely diverse, come from all areas, socioeconomic status, and backgrounds.
My students love to learn by enjoying hands-on, active lessons and are driven by technology and reading.
They are amazing students, leaders, and individuals! Our students are leaders who follow the 7 Habits of Happy Kids. They take initiative and use the habits to shape their lives and their learning. They lead to succeed!
My Project
My students are in need of a comfortable, inviting, reading spot where they can curl up with a good book. They are invited and expected to read a book of their choice every single day in my Language Arts class. I do weekly reading conferences with them, learn about their passions and interests, and use these to inspire them to be life long readers and to read for fun, for inspiration, and for learning.
The more my students read, the more successful they will be, not just on a test or on a report card, but in life.
I am committed to work every day to inspire all of my students to read no matter what their interests, abilities or backgrounds are. Students post what books they are reading, set goals for when they will finish, and share what they love about their books every single day. What I would love to add to my classroom is a more comfortable and inviting space to do this in. I currently have a comfortable rug, a rocking chair, and some lap desks. I am looking to add some pillows, bean bag chairs, and a chalk board wall that I will use to display student progress toward their reading goals and a place for students to share about their books.
