My Students

I teach both a morning and an afternoon session of 4K in a school district where many students face the challenges of poverty. The year they spend in 4K is normally their first school experience and I want to provide them with the best possible learning experience and set the foundation for a love for learning that hopefully will stay with them for a lifetime. I do not think there is much greater in life than looking into the eyes of a child and watching them grow, discover and learn about the world around them. As an early childhood educator, I strive to provide my students with a classroom environment that enables them to spend their days learning and having fun.

My Project

I have actually dreamed of a new dollhouse for my 4K classroom. Right now I have a dollhouse that is literally falling apart and missing a bunch of pieces. Although kids like to play with the current dollhouse, we have and do use imaginative and collaborative skills, it is hard for more than one or two of them to play with it due to the limited amount of space it provides to play and the few pieces it has.

I would love to have a dollhouse in my classroom that respects all families, cultures and ethnic diversity.

I do think a dollhouse can be a wonderful tool for learning in an early childhood Pre-K classroom.
