The students live in a rural area and one thing I love about them is their connection to nature and their awareness, even at this young age how what we do affects our Earth. Even at five a young child can be wise.
I am here because due to unfortunate circumstances of a devastating fire, we need an entire classroom, tables, chairs, shelves, books, materials, enough for twenty-two children.
It is my hope that generosity of others will help the children, when they return, return to a welcoming classroom, not only emotionally, but physically as well. Any help will be gratefully appreciated. Unfortunately, photos are not available at this time.
We lost our entire classroom in a wildfire. The Alphabet Classroom Rug will replace the one we lost; a place to meet and start each day.
Hopefully, as things are funded for the rebuilding of our classroom, sorrow of loss can be turned into the joy of receiving.
On our class rug we participated in calendar time, read our sight words, sang during music, and listened to stories. The children also enjoyed jumping from letter to letter saying the sounds and naming the picture in the squares they landed on, so I guess it was a great big, inviting, comfortable learning center!
