A New Carpet for a New Class

Help me give my students a large carpet to sit on for whole group instruction as well as to use at center time for puzzles and reading and math activities.

My Students

Our students are amazing! Many were born into poverty, are immigrants or refugees from other countries, or are currently experiencing homelessness. Despite difficulties and hardships in their early and current lives, they come to school with smiles, eager, ready, and willing to learn and grow as part of our kindergarten community.

We often spend our own money on necessities for students like clothing, sneakers, snacks, and books.

This doesn't allow us to purchase supplemental materials for the classroom that the district doesn't provide but that can enhance the kindergartners' learning and understanding immensely.

My Project

Before we know it, it will be a new school year! Our current classroom carpet is old and stained from many years of use by hundreds and hundreds of students! The current carpet was also from Lakeshore Learning and held up for many long years!

When welcoming a new class to kindergarten in the fall, I would love for the students to be able to sit on a brightly colored rug without stains and years worth of wear and tear.

The rug has boxes that would help new 4 and 5 year old students stay in his/her own space as well as help to learn color words in English.

A brightly colored, large, new rug would make the classroom look new and fresh again!
