Help me give my students nonfiction and historical fiction titles on various reading levels. These titles are aimed to encourage all of my students to want read more and take a journey through history.
My students represent a wide variety of abilities and backgrounds. They range anywhere from non-native speakers to honors level. But regardless of ability or background, I have found them all willing to dive into a good book when given the time. I see the spark within them and I want to light their fire for reading and knowledge. My students are inquisitive about history and current issues. They are thinkers and doers who want to have a greater access to current ideas and historical events through the eyes of those who lived through them.
My Project
My goal is to encourage all students, regardless of reading level, to want to learn more about a wide array of historical topics. Through daily independent reading and book talks, I hope that my students will encourage each other to read more. In doing so, this project aims to spark a love of history and a deeper connection to the individuals who have lived through it. The titles in my library focus on memoirs, autobiographies, biographies, and historical fiction related to the wars. In offering these types of books to my students, I hope to help create a life long reader in each of them.
