Help me give my students more ways to curl up with a good book and enjoy independent reading--some flexible seating and a bookshelf with tubs to organize books by topic.
Every year, I have the honor of working with an amazing group of students who bring with them a variety of background experiences. I teach at a school in a high-poverty area of Northern California, with ninety-nine percent free or reduced price lunch.
With all the adverse conditions in Butte County (Oroville Dam evacuation, Camp Fire, etc), my students need a calm classroom in order to focus.
Building knowledge and literacy is a main focus of my classroom.
The students at my school represent a wide variety of cultures and literacy levels. The students at my school display an incredible desire to build their core knowledge in language arts.
My Project
My class has been blessed with an abundance of books for my third graders. We have had donations from our community, book fairs, and even DonorsChoose.org.
Help us get all our new books organized with a new book shelf, organizational tubs, and a few bouncy seats to sit on.
With just a little more room, we can take care of our new books better, find new titles to enjoy, organize our books into subjects we like to study, and sit on a comfy ball and read in our expanded class library. These materials will help us enjoy our books in more organized way.
