The students in my Anatomy and Physiology class are the top students in my school. They are juniors and seniors who have decided to go into a medical career. I have taught this course for 14 years and have hundreds of students go on to become doctors, dentists, surgeons, nurses, dental assistants, and numerous other health professionals. The regional area I teach in is one of the highest unemployment rates in the state and our students are 87% free and reduced lunch. By purchasing supplies that are non-consumable students current and future Anatomy students will benefit from this purchase.
My Project
This year we have 24 students in Anatomy ( a class size that is growing each year). We currently have 5 skulls. When learning and studying the bones of the skull and brain students are sharing skulls in groups of 5. It's hard for kids to get a hands-on experience with so many students per group. With the purchase of just 2 additional skulls for the classroom the group numbers drop to groups of 3 and 4 students. Skulls are used each year so donating to this project will last many years. The skulls we currently use have been with me since my first year teaching Anatomy 16 years ago. Thanks for helping these future health professionals with their "need for a noggin"!
