Do you remember reading your favorite book for the first timel? Do you remember reading ANY book in school that was unique, interesting, and just down right great?! Do you remember playing the lovable board game Clue?!
My students are lacking a novel in their 10th grade year that allows them to solve a mystery!
My enthusiastic students are craving for an adventure. Students at my high school come from many different backgrounds. Statistically speaking, over half of our students are on free or reduced price lunch. Not every student has the opportunity to buy books for classes, which makes it hard to incorporate new, exciting books!
Reading is SO important to overall adult success; my students need to have entertaining books so they may be motivated to continue reading outside of the classroom. Students at my school are inquisitive, compassionate, and creative. They deserve to have a novel in their 10th grade year that allows them to explore, to solve problems, and to truly engage in reading! Please make our dreams a reality!!!
We will dive deep into the mystery by Agatha Christie through class discussion, analysis, annotations, and an essay. We will spend a few weeks dissecting Christie's unique writing style and thrilling story. In the end, students will write an analysis essay over what we have read and covered. This will be much more exciting than reading the same-old stories you read as a high schooler!
Students will be able to read an egaging novel that is far different from what else they read throughout the year (Night by Elie Wisel, Of Mice & Men by John Steinbeck, and Anthem by Ayn Rand)!
