My students need a fun, musical classroom rug to make our floor-seated classroom experience much more comfortable and visually stimulating.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My students are so excited to learn more about the beautiful world of music! They come in every day excited for new experiences with sound, movement, and play. Our classroom allows for exploration of our bodies and voices as well as the many instruments that surround us, both conventional and unconventional.
My students make the best out of every experience they are presented with.
We may not have the resources of a big district, but we have kids who are creative and adaptive. They jump into new experiences with joy and take pride in their learning. I am so lucky to make music with such wonderful students!
My students do their best every day to participate in classroom activities and expand their learning of music. We spend large portions of our class periods playing musical games that require us to remain seated in a circle on the floor. However, our classroom floor is tiled, making our seats rather cold and hard. Tiny bodies get antsy when they don't feel comfortable; our classroom could really benefit from something softer to sit on!
Something as simple as a rug will do so much to help our students stay focused and stimulated.
Even we adults struggle sometimes to keep on task when our bodies are uncomfortable -- imagine how much a softer sitting space could help such young children! The colors and musical information on this particular rug will also help students who struggle with attention find something to keep their brain engaged. Furthermore, this will help our younger classes more easily arrange themselves into a comfortable seating arrangement that is conducive to our learning environment.
You can make a great change for the music students at our school! Thank you for all of your help.
