This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

In our school community, we aim to inspire scholars to achieve their fullest potential as lifelong learners and global citizens in an environment where poverty does not predict success. Many of our scholars have limited access to the tools they need to build musicianship and be creative!

There is a beat flowing through each and every scholar that they are just aching to get out.

They love to express themselves through singing, playing, moving, improvising and composing. I strive to find many ways to encourage and cultivate their innate musical abilities in my classroom and beyond!

My Project

The floor in our music class is very hard and is not conducive to our needs. We need a music rug that our entire class can sit on and better help us transition into movement activities. This beautiful music rug will provide my scholars with a more interactive experience while learning about musical symbols and vocabulary.

We will be able to create music and move together.

Scholars will also be able to improve their music literacy by identifying music vocabulary and symbols. The music rug will help enhance our educational experience, promote team building and cooperation in our music classroom.
