I service the budding, little Mozartians from preschool age to 6th grade at two schools. As their music teacher, I'm always figuring out ways to lead them through "the mystery of music class” with joy full of surprises. Our students become fluent in Singlish as they enter the wondrous land of Sing-a-Lore each day. They come away dancing, singing, and moving to music comprehending the phrasing, structure, and timing behind it. They explore the textures of sound while learning the symbols, style, and art behind it. Their beat work causes their minds to expand, and their focus to increase while feeling its elements. They learn to incorporate all kinds of subjects from literature, spelling, math, history, and science while enjoying the beauty of the arts surrounding them.
My Project
Student's love to be buggy & play in the dirt so let's just give them the tools to dig deep!
I am excited to present some fun colorful drama and musical opportunities to study a bug's life more closely.
Puppets will show the ecosystem while creating a musical drama on a big rug combining wonderful illustrations & story telling about what really happens in a bug's life.
From the far reaching sights of the universe to the very Mother Earth students will learn to grasp the vastness to the tiniest creations with the books presented & choruses produced! Colorful plates will be used to represent the planets & also to house puppet bugs. Fans will represent the gardens & flowers many bugs hide in. Other various animal puppets with their respective books will educate students about the fate of their furry, fuzzy friends! Students will use instruments such as drums to bring each puppet to life while discovering rhythms & melody writing on the big musical rug staff. They will mix & arrange to create songs & choruses suitable for creative dance & conversation characteristic of each part of the ecosystem. The songs arrangements about bugs & animals will provide activities that will enhance the growth & expand the imaginations of each child.
A pianist from the Utah Opera will come to help the students compose the music behind their brilliant ideas. Many of their creations will bounce directly off of the songs & unique instrument arrangements about bugs, plants, & animal life from the conversational solfege rhythmic game cards. They will then record & present their original creations before the sweet younger grades who will also learn about life around them. They will be inspired by the music, opera, & movement to create wonderful productions themselves surrounding nature!
