Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am a special needs teacher of bright, creative, and resilient individuals. My students have a great love for learning, that makes teaching so enjoyable.
My students face numerous struggles each day.
Besides having academic disadvantages, they also come from families that are not always able to provide supplies or financial assistance.
As Albert Einstein said, "Creativity is Intelligence having FUN!" As a teacher this is what I’m trying to bring back to education which is nowadays drowning in assessments and state testing. By using technology and having an environment where movement is encouraged, students will be engaged and enthusiastic about learning.
My Project
In my classroom, we strive to make life long learners who not only enjoy reading and math but also have the strategies and skills to be successful at it.
My students overcome so many daily struggles that it's important they have every tool and resource available to them to even the playing field of learning.
Furthermore, my special needs students are very active learners. I would like to support my students' constant need for movement by providing them with wobble stools. I am planning on using them daily to ensure that they stay focused during lessons. The laptops will be used to research topics of interest, edit documents, publish projects, and work on different learning websites.
By having this equipment, students will be engaged and enthusiastic about learning each day.
I want our classroom environment to be collaborative, full of communication, creativity, and a critical thinking environment. The gift of these new "chairs" and computers will not only have a positive effect on their learning, but our new classroom environment will look cool, too.
