This year, I am teaching 36 wonderful, active second graders! My students come from a variety of economic and cultural backgrounds. Most of my students receive free breakfast and lunch. My school is a very culturally and ethnically diverse school in Florida, where students speak a multitude of languages!
My students' learning styles are as diverse as their cultural backgrounds!
Their love for learning inspires me every day! As their teacher, it is my duty to enrich each of their unique learning styles and personalities. These students are such hard workers and their excitement in the classroom is a daily blessing!
This year, I would love to create a novel study with the book 'The Mouse and the Motorcycle.' I want to create engaging and fun lessons for each chapter! To do that, my classroom would need a whole class set of the book. My students love to read, especially chapter books about animals.
This novel will be great to build their reading stamina, fluency, and reading comprehension, all while making it fun for the kids as well!
This book would hold their interest and keep them wanting to read more! By engaging in a novel study, my students will be able to have whole class discussions about their thoughts on the book, what interests them, answer questions with text evidence, and make text-to-self connections!
