My students need 25 mice for their Chromebooks as some of the Chromebooks are well-loved and therefore, they are difficult to navigate.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach 2nd grade at a school in East Side San Jose. Many of my students come from low-income households. Because of their low socioeconomic status, many of these students and their families face hardships at home and in their community. Despite this setback, however, they are still full of imagination and curiosity.
These students come to school each day prepared and ready to learn!
They absorb all of the new, wonderful content that is introduced to them each day. Majority of them are English Language Learners and are learning how to be fluent in the English language. They are learning how to communicate socially as well as academically. They participate in structured, interactive activities each day and engage in wonderful conversation surrounding the academic content. My goal is to create a welcoming community full of resources and opportunities that these children may not receive otherwise.
My Project
We use different online programs in our classroom, and these programs help my students in developing necessary skills such as phonemic awareness. If this project is funded, we will have a class set of computer mice and each student will be able to navigate through the programs with ease.
We are a group of 21st Century learners; not only do we use the blended learning programs provided by our district, but my students are now creating Google Slides and Forms!
We want access to the new technology available to us, but we also understand that technology has its limits in regards to normal wear and tear. Because our Chromebooks are well-loved, the trackpads sometimes get stuck or don't work properly.
To prevent this from becoming an obstacle for our students, a computer mouse for each student would do wonders for our classroom! The goal is for each student to remain focused and engaged throughout the use of the programs, and having a mouse will allow each student the opportunity to work through the programs without having to pause along the way.
This donation will give my students the independence that they need to drive their own learning and advancement on programs used by our district.
