My students are a highly diverse group from all across our district who chose to attend our school. We focus on project-based learning to let our students grow academically and in the skills they will need to succeed in their post-secondary plans and eventually in the workforce. My students are both excited and nervous about their futures beyond high school
My students utilize technology in meaningful ways, to expand and build upon their learning.
This is a 1:1 tech based school meaning everyone gets a Chromebook. What we lack, are effective, mobile tablets to be used for a variety of activities and analysis by our students.
My Project
This Samsung tablet will increase interactivity in the classroom in a number of ways. If connected properly to online software and apps, it can allow for students to add answers to complex questions, in their owns words. It can record classroom notes and discussions for students to utilize later (or for absent students) and can allow students to manipulate and analyze charts, images, maps, and texts for group-based discussions.
Imagine analyzing a map and being able to select various resources or political lines to identify or eliminate.
This can be done in the moment and prepares students for use of such technology as they continue to grow and learn.
This tablet can also be utilized for more simple and quick administration in the classroom, where videos and documents can be pulled up more quickly and attendance can be done with ease as I greet students at the door and filter around the room. This Tablet will be the start of a process where we attempt to get 5 tablets for initial use in the classroom and in the students groups.
