When did you have the most fun in your high school Chemistry course? My students have yet to experience the explosions and color changes and sounds and FUN that Chemistry has to offer due to the lack of proper equipment; do you want to be a part of making Chemistry fun again?
My students are a multi-cultural group in a growing charter school.
Due to the amazing teachers at this school, my students already love science; they just haven't had much opportunity to actually practice being scientists. They already have the makings of excellent scientists: they work hard, question deeply, and apply their knowledge to their own lives.
My Project
Imagine a classroom with students completely engaged in the task at hand: heating up table sugar in a test tube and watching it break down into baser molecules. The fires are lit on the bunsen burners, in their eyes, and in their hearts as they finally get to experience science in a way they never have before. They're working in groups, asking each other questions, and trying to figure out what exactly is going on. They are learning.
My students need bunsen burners, ring stands, and other basic lab supplies.
This equipment won't just benefit my Chemistry class this year. If I can obtain this equipment I will incorporate it into my Integrated Science class and my Biology class as well. On top of that, with proper care and maintenance this equipment will last the school for years to come - by the time it reaches its end, thousands of students will have had the joy of science sparked in their hearts due to your donation.
