Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students walk into our classroom every day full of life, ready to learn, and excited for what is in store for them. I strive to give them experience they might not get otherwise. If I don’t provide these text rich experiences in the classroom , they might not get them at all.
Our school is 95% English Language Learners with 90% receiving free and reduced lunch.
I want to give them every opportunity to succeed. I remember how magical learning to read was.
My Project
My classroom is a fully flexible classroom. This means that the students sit around the room in whatever seat is most comfortable for them! A huge component to this is being able to have our classroom library move with them! My students are avid readers who love their 21st classroom. This is an integral part of that. The book bins will help organize our library. Currently, our library has no designated bookshelf as our built ins are being used. An organized library would allow my students to more easily access their books during silent reading time and beyond. 21st century readers need 21st century furniture!
