My Students

My students come from varied ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds. However, our school serves a population with many students who live in a low socioeconomic neighborhood. The students we serve desire the opportunity to be successful, and part of our mission is to help them become productive citizens while seeking their highest potential. Many of our students receive free or reduced-price lunch, and this indicates that they may have limited access to supplemental resources at home.

My students' needs push me to be better at what I do—teaching and reaching them.

The majority of my students have goals, whether short or long-term that require that they receive the best educational foundation possible. So, if I come across resources that I think will help me help them reach those goals, I am determined to do what I can to provide them. This is very difficult on my salary. It is good to know that there are people out there who are supportive of public education and are willing to help me meet those needs in my classroom.

My Project

A mobile workstation will enable me, and another teacher on my team, to move our resources in close proximity to the students we are trying to reach. It would provide more functionality in the classroom and enable us to more readily work with small groups. It will also allow the ability to access students from different spots within the same classroom as well as having a desk when we take learning outside the classroom.

Mobility is key in teaching.

It is important to move about and give multiple students your attention as well as access to the instructor. Please consider helping our team become accessible to more students on a regular basis.
